James, President & CIO of HUNT Insurance, first became interested in the insurance brokerage model as an entrepreneur, when he needed specific insurance for a company he had founded. He decided to pursue a career as a personal lines producer, and started working at HUNT in that role four years ago. From there, James earned his MBA from the University of Rochester, and then became Director of Sales, where he had the opportunity to design and implement strategies to grow sales of increased external market share within each region of HUNT. After exceeding all major agency sales metrics for 2017-2019, James was named COO of HUNT Insurance, where he is currently focusing on growing his team of experienced insurance producers along with the rapidly expanding business.
James’ favorite aspect of the insurance industry and his role at HUNT is being able to help others. He enjoys identifying solutions for the specific needs of customers, and also being able to assist HUNT’s real estate professionals so they can reach their goals.
The scoop on James: Also a graduate of the University of Vermont for his bachelor’s degree in business administration, James is a volunteer with the school’s alumni admissions program. He also serves on advisory boards and committees for various organizations in the community, including the United Way, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and the Salvation Army. When he isn’t working or volunteering, James enjoys playing golf and hockey, and also spends time building furniture.
